When I was working in China Daily, I was regularly asked if I could record a few paragraphs for CD's website in a section called Bilingual News (English & Chinese). I was told they wanted an easy-to-understand British accent which the Chinese punters could listen to in order to improve their English language skills. The text was printed out on the web page and I would read it out at a fast dictation speed. Apparently this service was extremely popular with aspiring English speakers!
